Story
Location
The holiday rental is located in the commune of Chemiré-le-Gaudin, in the Sarthe department, between Le Mans and La Flèche.
The property consists of two adjacent, elongated buildings situated in the center of the hamlet of Saint-Benoît.
It lies along the “Vélobuissonière” cycle route, just a few hundred meters from the Sarthe River and the Chemiré-le-Gaudin harbor, where a boat ramp and a pontoon are available for free use.
The Le Mans 24-Hour Circuit is a 20-minute drive away, and La Flèche Zoo is 35 minutes away.

Chemiré-le-Gaudin—known as the “village of three churches”—is a commune that has boasted three churches since the 1908 merger.
The Church of Saint-Benoit (located right near the gîte) is a 12th-century Romanesque building. It is recognizable by its simple façade, topped with a small stone cross.
Its campanile-style bell tower was destroyed by a fire caused by lightning. Today, a single bell still rings; it is housed under the roof structure to the right of the main entrance.
In 2003, a knight’s tomb—dating back to the 16th century—was discovered outside, to the right of the church entrance. The stone slab features a processional cross, a shield, and a sword, making it a complete example of its kind. It has been set upright against the wall at the church entrance.
The Grennwich Meridian
The Greenwich Meridian — the universal reference point for 0° longitude — passes through the hamlet and is marked by a boundary stone just steps away from the cottage.
